Copper is one of eight essential plant micronutrients. Copper is required for many of the enzymatic activities in plants, such as chlorophyll and seed production. The amount of copper available to plants varies widely among soils. Sandy-textured soils are more likely to be copper deficient than loams and clays.
Soil and plant tissue tests are recommended to determine a copper deficiency in soils.
CAUTION: Copper should be used with caution to prevent excessive copper accumulation in the soil. A copper build-up in the soil will prohibit future use. Toxic to birds, small wild mammals, and aquatic organisms. Do not allow runoff from treated areas into aquatic habitats.
