Phytoseiulus persimilis – Predatory Mite for Two-Spotted Spider Mite Control

Available Sizes:
100 sachets
250 sachets
(Each sachet contains 250 Phytoseiulus persimilis)

Target Pest
Two-Spotted Spider Mite (Tetranychus urticae) – all life stages

How It Works

Phytoseiulus persimilis is a specialist predator that targets spider mites exclusively. It feeds by piercing the mites with its mouthparts and extracting their internal fluids. While all mobile stages of persimilis feed on spider mites, they prefer eggs and immature stages. The larvae do not feed.

SPIDEX VITAL PLUS is delivered in slow-release sachets designed to provide a continuous, natural release of predatory mites over two weeks. This steady introduction helps establish a persistent population in your crop.

Note: Phytoseiulus persimilis can only survive in the presence of two-spotted spider mites.

Suggested Application Rate

2.5–1 sachet per m² if plants are touching and have formed a canopy.
1 sachet per plant if the leaves are not touching
Rates depend on crop type and pest pressure.

Instructions for Use

Hang sachets in and around infestation hotspots, in protected areas away from direct sunlight. Do not open sachets — each has a pre-punched exit hole. Hold sachets by the cardboard strip to avoid damage. Apply every two weeks for ongoing control.

Shelf Life

Use within 1–2 days of arrival. Store at 8–10°C in a dark place if not used immediately.

⚠️This product may cause allergic reactions in some individuals — use appropriate precautions when handling- wear gloves, and cover arms & legs.

What to Expect Upon Arrival

This product arrives as Phytoseiulus persimilis sachets. Do not open the sachets; they are designed with exit holes for mites to disperse naturally. Little or no visible movement on the outside is normal until the sachets are placed in the crop.

Important Notes

We import most biological controls fresh to help ensure customers receive active, viable beneficial insects, mites, and nematodes. Because these are living products with limited shelf life, we do not keep most biologicals stocked in-house.

Please inspect your package and product immediately upon arrival, before release. If you have any concerns about condition or viability, contact us before releasing at admin@optimizeorganics.ca with your order number and clear photos of the package and product. Once beneficials have been released, it becomes much more difficult for us to assess their condition on arrival.

Biological pest control is rarely a one-and-done release. In most active pest situations, sequential releases are needed to build and maintain beneficial populations while pest eggs continue to hatch and existing pest pressure is reduced.

Avoid spraying pesticides, oils, soaps, or other residues immediately before or after release unless compatibility has been confirmed, as these may harm beneficials.
