Phytoseiulus persimilis – Predatory Mite
Immediate Control of Two-Spotted Spider Mites

🔥 Best used as a curative when spider mite populations are out of control and heavy webbing is visible.

🕷️ Controls All Life Stages of Two-Spotted Spider Mites

SPIDEX RED contains 95–100% gravid (pregnant) females, ready to start ovipositing (laying eggs) immediately. These predatory mites pierce and feed on spider mite eggs, nymphs, and adults, stopping infestations fast.

Unlike SPIDEX VITAL, SPIDEX RED does not contain a food source and is intended for rapid response, not preventive use.

📦 What You’re Getting

A bottle of adult Phytoseiulus persimilis mixed with wood chips.
These beneficial mites are voracious and highly specialized—they can only survive by feeding on two-spotted spider mites (Tetranychus urticae), making them extremely focused and effective.

💡 How It Works

  • Hunts and feeds on pests by piercing them with its mouthparts
  • Extracts and consumes internal fluids
  • Most active against eggs, but also targets nymphs and adults
  • Mites reproduce and increase your control power naturally over time

📋 Application Details

Suggested Rate: 2–50 mites/m² depending on pest pressure
Frequency: Weekly or bi-weekly applications as needed

Best Conditions:
Temp: Above 20°C (68°F) for part of the day
Humidity: Above 75% at the leaf surface for part of the day

Instructions:

• Diboxes are hung directly on plants for optimal release
• Can be applied using (Mini)Airbug or Airobug

Storage:

• Use within 1–2 days of receipt

What to Expect Upon Arrival:

This product arrives as live Phytoseiulus persimilis predatory mites in carrier material. The mites are very small and may be easiest to spot as tiny reddish-orange moving specks, especially once warmed slightly and exposed to light. Release promptly near spider mite hotspots.

Important Notes:

We import most biological controls fresh to help ensure customers receive active, viable beneficial insects, mites, and nematodes. Because these are living products with limited shelf life, we do not keep most biologicals stocked in-house.

Please inspect your package and product immediately upon arrival, before release. If you have any concerns about condition or viability, contact us before releasing at admin@optimizeorganics.ca with your order number and clear photos of the package and product. Once beneficials have been released, it becomes much more difficult for us to assess their condition on arrival.

Biological pest control is rarely a one-and-done release. In most active pest situations, sequential releases are needed to build and maintain beneficial populations while pest eggs continue to hatch and existing pest pressure is reduced.

Avoid spraying pesticides, oils, soaps, or other residues immediately before or after release unless compatibility has been confirmed, as these may harm beneficials.
