Ladybug Larvae (Adalia Bipunctata) - 100 Count

*ORDERS FOR LADYBUG LARVAE MUST BE PLACED BEFORE TUESDAY, 11:30 AM PST TO BE SHIPPED 14 BUSINESS DAYS LATER*

Adalia bipunctata, also known as the two-spotted ladybug or two-spotted lady beetle, is a beneficial predatory beetle used for natural aphid control.

This product contains live Adalia larvae in a carrier material. The larval stage is highly active and feeds directly on aphids, making Adalia a strong option when aphids are already visible on plants.

Target Pests

  • Aphids: various aphid species and life stages

Adalia is best used for active aphid pressure, especially where aphid colonies or hotspots are present.

How Adalia Works

Adalia larvae actively search the plant for aphids and consume them directly. Once released near aphid colonies, the larvae move through the crop, feeding on aphids at various stages.

Because they are released as larvae rather than adult ladybugs, they are less likely to immediately fly away and are better suited for targeted placement where aphids are present.

Best Use

Use Adalia when aphids are already visible on the plant. For best results, release the larvae close to active aphid colonies so they can begin feeding quickly.

Adalia can be used on its own for localized aphid pressure or as part of a broader biological control program with other compatible beneficial insects, depending on the crop, pest species, and infestation level.

Application Instructions

Open the bag and place the larvae and carrier material near aphid colonies or affected areas of the plant.

For trees or larger plants, the bag can be attached near the first branch or close to areas where aphids are active. For smaller plants, the material can be distributed carefully near pest hotspots or placed into suitable distribution boxes.

Apply during cooler parts of the day when possible. Avoid placing larvae in direct hot sun or onto wet foliage.

What to Expect Upon Arrival

Adalia arrives as live larvae in carrier material, typically buckwheat hulls. The larvae may hide in the carrier during shipping, so you may notice limited movement at first. This is normal.

Release as soon as possible after arrival. If immediate release is not possible, keep the product in a cool, dark location and use within 1–2 days of receipt.

Important Notes

We import most biological controls fresh to help ensure customers receive active, viable beneficial insects, mites, and nematodes. Because these are living products with limited shelf life, we do not keep most biologicals stocked in-house.

Inspect the product upon arrival before release. If you have any concerns about condition or viability, contact us before releasing at admin@optimizeorganics.ca with your order number and clear photos of the package and product.

Biological pest control is rarely a one-and-done release. In most active pest situations, sequential releases are needed to build and maintain beneficial populations while pest eggs continue to hatch and existing pest pressure is reduced.

For heavier aphid infestations, Adalia may be best used as part of a broader aphid-control program with other compatible beneficials. Contact us if you would like help choosing the best release strategy for your crop and pest pressure.

Avoid spraying pesticides, oils, soaps, or other residues immediately before or after release unless compatibility has been confirmed, as these may harm beneficial insects.
