SPIDEND 250  Gall-midge Feltiella Acarisuga

*ORDERS FOR BIOLOGICAL PEST CONTROLS MUST BE PLACED BEFORE WEDNESDAYS AT 11:30 AM PST TO BE SHIPPED THE FOLLOWING WEEK*

Adult gall-midges actively search for spider mite colonies and deposit eggs next to the spider mites. It takes one week for the eggs to develop into mature larvae. Once hatched, the larvae feed on spider mite eggs.

Use SPIDEND for biological pest control of:

  • Various species of spider mites.
  • Spidend is recommended especially when spider mites occur in colonies/hotspots.

Application Instructions

  • Make a hole in the lid and put the can on the rock wool slab or directly on the soil
  • Protect against direct sunlight and water
  • Leave the can in place for at least two weeks
  • Use the peel-off label to mark where the product has been introduced
  • Optimal results require a humid environment (80% RV) and temperatures between 20 and 27°C.
  • Feltiella acarisuga should always be used in combination with the predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis (Spidex).

What to Expect Upon Arrival

This product typically arrives as Feltiella pupae in carrier material. Adult gall midges may not be visible immediately; they emerge after placement and search for spider mite colonies before laying eggs. Release promptly near spider mite hotspots.

Important Notes

We import most biological controls fresh to help ensure customers receive active, viable beneficial insects, mites, and nematodes. Because these are living products with limited shelf life, we do not keep most biologicals stocked in-house.

Please inspect your package and product immediately upon arrival, before release. If you have any concerns about condition or viability, contact us before releasing at admin@optimizeorganics.ca with your order number and clear photos of the package and product. Once beneficials have been released, it becomes much more difficult for us to assess their condition on arrival.

Biological pest control is rarely a one-and-done release. In most active pest situations, sequential releases are needed to build and maintain beneficial populations while pest eggs continue to hatch and existing pest pressure is reduced.

Avoid spraying pesticides, oils, soaps, or other residues immediately before or after release unless compatibility has been confirmed, as these may harm beneficials.
