A double-thick 1020 tray with no drainage holes: solid, rigid, and built to hold water.
This tray has no drainage holes. The double-thick wall stays rigid when full, does not bow or leak when you lift it, and holds up to years of reuse.
Built to the standard 1020 format.
How to use it
Set your tray with drainage holes on top of this one. During germination it catches runoff from top watering. Once the microgreens start growing, fill this tray with water so the roots bottom-water through the holes above. Bottom watering keeps the leaf canopy dry, which is the best way to prevent mold and damping-off. This tray is the matching base for our tray with drainage holes.
As a blackout cover for germination
Flipped upside down over another tray, this same tray blocks out light during the germination blackout period and adds gentle, even weight. Lift it off once the blackout period is over.
As a base for cell and plug trays
We use this tray as the base under our 72, 98, and 128 cell plug trays. The cell trays sit flatter and more stable on the solid, double-thick bottom than they do on a standard 1020 tray, and it catches any runoff when you water from the top.
