Granulated Dolomite Lime

Raises Soil pH • Adds Calcium & Magnesium • Improves Soil Structure

Our Granulated Dolomite Lime is a finely ground dolomitic limestone (magnesium and calcium carbonate) formed into dust-free granules for easy and accurate application. It’s ideal for soils that are too acidic or magnesium-deficient—common in gardens, lawns, raised beds, and potting mixes.

Use it to gently raise soil pH, improve nutrient availability, and support healthy root development. Granules break down quickly with moisture for fast activation in the soil.

🌿 Key Benefits

  • Adjusts acidic soil pH into the ideal 6.0–7.0 range

  • Provides calcium (20%) and magnesium (10%)

  • Improves nutrient availability and soil structure

  • Supports microbial activity and long-term soil health

  • Easy to spread, low-dust granules

Application Guidelines

🌱 General Use

In the garden: Apply 400–600g per 10m² (approx. 1–1.5 lbs per 100 ft²) for seasonal pH maintenance.

⚖️ Adjusting Soil pH

Most garden plants grow best in soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
Use the guide below to determine how much lime to apply to raise your soil pH toward 6.5:

  • pH 6.0: Apply 1.4 kg per 10m² to raise toward 6.5

  • pH 5.8: Apply 1.7 kg per 10m² to raise toward 6.5

  • pH 5.6: Apply 2.2 kg per 10m² to raise toward 6.5

  • pH 5.4: Apply 2.8 kg per 10m² to raise toward 6.5

  • pH 5.2: Apply 3.6 kg per 10m² to raise toward 6.5

  • pH 5.0: Apply 4.6 kg per 10m² to raise toward 6.5

💧 Tip: Water in well after application. For clay-heavy or highly acidic soils, consider applying in two smaller doses spaced a few weeks apart.

📌 These rates are based on average loam soil. Lighter sandy soils may require less, and dense clay soils may require more.

🔍 Usage Notes & Pro Tips

  • Always test your soil pH first using a home kit or lab analysis before applying lime. Over-liming can push pH too high and lock out nutrients like iron, manganese, and phosphorus.

  • Do not use dolomitic lime if your magnesium levels are already high (especially in clay soils). In that case, use limestone—a high-calcium, magnesium-free option ideal for raising pH without adding more magnesium.

  • Apply at least 2–4 weeks before planting to allow time for pH to adjust. Earlier is better—fall and early spring are ideal.

  • Mix thoroughly into the top 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) of soil for best results, especially in garden beds. Surface application is less effective unless followed by consistent rain or irrigation.

  • Avoid applying lime at the same time as high-phosphorus fertilizers—especially rock phosphate or bone meal—as high pH can reduce phosphorus availability.

  • Re-test your soil pH every 1–2 years if you’re using lime regularly. The effect of lime is long-lasting, and repeated use without testing can lead to nutrient imbalances.
